Due to the current situation of maritime supply chain, many shipping companies have expanded their business scale in the hope of bringing more benefits.

On the 9th of last week, the French shipping company CMA-CGM signed a 35 year agreement with the port of Abu Dhabi, which stated that they would develop a new terminal in the port of Khalifa. It is estimated to invest 154 million US dollars.

This is the first semi-automatic container port in the Gulf Cooperation Council region.

The total throughput is expected to be 1.8 million TEU, which is initially scheduled to be opened in 2024.

Obviously,CMA-CGM has promoted its global business development through this investment.

It is understood that Abu Dhabi port has many business types, including industry, shipping, digital technology and so on.

Its geographical location is also in the center of international trade. This can strengthen the position of CMA-CGM in the Gulf region.

The terminal will provide a new hub for CMA-CGM, which can connect three continents of Asia, Africa and Europe.

This will facilitate the expansion of global business development. At present, the group has operated 49 terminals in 27 countries.

The chairman of Abu Dhabi port said: "we are honored to complete this cooperation with CMA-CGM. Our stable development environment is one of the important factors to attract foreign investment."

"Coupled with the free trade zone in the port, more foreign enterprises can easily carry out business activities in the UAE. It has to be said that the UAE has become an investment destination for many Middle East businesses."

Rudolf Sade, chairman of CMA-CGM, also said: "this major investment decision will be an important milestone. This new terminal will promote the economic development of the region. At the same time, it can also expand our group's logistics business in the region. I think this region has infinite potential."

CMA-CGM has been operating in the United Arab Emirates for many years, with 10 offices there to provide customers with a full range of shipping and logistics service solutions. At present, CMA-CGM connects the UAE and the world through 13 routes.

In fact, in addition to CMA-CGM, two of the world's top shipping companies also take harifa port as a transportation hub.

CMA-CGM said that the geographical location of the port is superior. Therefore, we hope to strengthen our ties with the world by building a new wharf.
