Whether it's an airport or a port, cargo accumulation in North America is very serious

With a large number of ships and containers pouring into Los Angeles port and Long Beach port in North America, the number of ships waiting for berths has set a new record - nearly 40 ships waiting here.

This is much more serious than the port outage in 2002 and 2004.

We all know that these two ports are often congested. Although it eased in the first half of the year, now with the arrival of Christmas season, port congestion has intensified.

Inland traffic is also the main influencing factor. Because the highway and railway facilities on the west coast are relatively old, it will hinder the inland transportation of containers to the port.

Some experts analyzed that recently, a large number of ships were blocked in the port for unloading, mainly because of the surge in inventory of retailers and manufacturers.

They are preparing goods in advance to ensure stock stability in the next Christmas season. This makes the port congestion more serious than ever.

Peter sand, chief shipping economist of the global shipowner organization, said that now, due to the impact of the epidemic, the workers in both ports are unable to load and unload containers in time, which will make the cargo density of the port quite high and reduce the logistics efficiency.

The backlog at Chicago O'Hare Airport is equally serious

As the sea transportation has become very difficult, many shippers replenish their commodity inventory as soon as possible and focus on air transportation. Chicago's O'Hare Airport is one of the airports of concern.

This makes the cargo volume of the airport soar in a short time. At the same time, the shortage of airport staff makes the turnover efficiency of goods slow, and the goods are stacked here for longer and longer.

Some freight forwarders said that their goods had stayed at the airport for more than a month.

According to the data released by the Aviation Department of the region, the cargo volume of O'Hare Airport increased by 15% last year, with nearly 300 tons of cargo.

By the first half of this year, the number of flights at the airport had increased by nearly 20% over last year, and the cargo volume had reached 45%.

At present, the backlog of goods is very serious, and the goods in the warehouse can not be turned around quickly. Some freight forwarders want to pick up the goods themselves in order to improve efficiency.

They bribed the warehouse staff and went into the warehouse to take their goods in advance.

What's more, some freight forwarders want to bypass the airport warehouse and directly transfer the goods from the airport to their own freight station for distribution.

This phenomenon reflects the serious cargo accumulation in North American ports and airports.
