Recently, the world's ports have been more or less affected by the maritime situation. Such as strike action and container stacking caused serious shipping delay.
Some carriers have to take corresponding measures to stabilize their interests. Recently, Maersk released a notice on transportation fees for MPT customers in Toronto / Montreal.
According to the notice, the congestion situation at Prince Rupert port and Vancouver Port continues to deteriorate, so that a large number of imported containers stay at the port for the highest time in history.
To this end, CN Rail will take several important measures to alleviate this situation. One of them is to establish multiple container stacks to restore the mobility of the transport network.
CN Rail will charge certain fees for these containers transported to the designated storage yard. It is understood that the fee will take effect on August 9, 2022 and is applicable to all truck drivers designated by Maersk.
As part of the billing process, the delivery fee / transportation fee will be expressed as additional import service.
The following are the fees to be paid for the containers transported to the container yard:
CN Rail Mississauga: $300
Container Storage Solutions (Brampton): $300
Paul Transport: $300
CN Valleyfield (Montreal): $550
It is worth noting that the free time for railway storage in the above locations has also been reduced from 2 days to 1 day.
Herbert also adjusted the relevant expenses
Coincidentally, the shipping company Hapag Lloyd has also adjusted the relevant fees in view of the recent maritime situation. Including cancellation fee, loss of cabin fee and compensation fee.
According to the notice, in consideration of the changes in the market environment, the cancellation fee, loss of cabin fee and compensation fee of qqspot (instant quotation tool) will be adjusted. This is the third time that Herbert Roth has adjusted the relevant fees this year.
The applicable fees will be effective on a global scale and will be calculated as a percentage per container.
GLA hereby reminds freight forwarders and shippers to pay close attention to the latest logistics trends and the notice of the carrier to avoid delay in the delivery of goods.
